When I was going up in Belfast, tourism was not the most thriving industry. We, on occasion, would see an American tourist with a camera fascinated with the children playing in a war zone with seemly no care in the world. In those days, Belfast was a dangerous place. The only thing certain was uncertainty. Of course, this was in the 1980s and 1990s.

Today, however, Belfast welcomes over 9.5 million visitors per year, which is a significant number for a relatively small city, and the city is as safe as any other city in the world.  Per the Belfast City Council Website, the number of visitors to Belfast is up over two million since 2012.

There is so much to do in Belfast, but one of the highlights and it is close to Belfast City Center is the world-renowned Titanic Center, which gives visitors the best Titanic experience in the place where it was built. The center won the 2016 award the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards. Belfast also has many theaters, a bustling nightlife boasting bars, night clubs, and wine bars. There is something for people of all ages. The legal age to consume alcohol in Ireland is 18.

Belfast is a historical city which is rich in culture. The city is technically part of the United Kingdom, and the currency used is British Sterling. The conversation rate as of 3-10-2017 is 82 pence for one US Dollar. It was not that long ago that it was only 50 British Pence for one US Dollar, so today's rate is of great benefit to people from the US traveling to Belfast.

Although there is much to do in Belfast, if a tourist wanted to visit Dublin, he or she could do so for around $50 round trip on a train, and the trip takes a couple of hours. If you traveled to Dublin, you would need to exchange the British Pounds to Euros, which is the currency used in the Republic of Ireland.

However, Belfast has plenty of stuff to see and do, and a two-week vacation could be packed with exciting and fun days.

We work with travel partners that offer guided tours in Belfast and all of Ireland. One of our partners will take you from town to town spending one or two nights in each location, and they offer great insights into the cultures of the country in which you travel. Often on the tours, the company has a local legend invite you into their homes for lunch or dinner in a unique experience that is not offered by other travel companies, nor can these experiences be purchased privately.

While travel companies can provide unforgeable experiences, not everyone wants to move around so much on vacation. If you would rather stay at one location, we could easily fill your time with tours, or you could see the sights of Belfast and decide what you would like to do from day to day.

Like most countries that had troubles in the past, Belfast peaks the interest of millions of people each year, who want to go and experience the rich culture, fantastic nightlife, great food, and some of the best tourist attractions in the world.
